Public Engagement

Over the course of 2 to 3 years for this feasibility study, the public engagement process will include coordination with property owners, local and regional agencies, public meetings, and regular updates for the public.

In-person Meeting: Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sunfield Event Center

Comment Period: Dec. 7 to Dec. 22, 2023

Hays County, in partnership with the City of Buda, is conducting a study to explore the feasibility of constructing SH 45 between I-35 and RM 1626. A second open house meeting for the study is being held. Background data, input from the first open house, and preliminary route concepts will be shared for public comment and feedback.


The information shared at the meeting will also be available online and the comment period is from Thursday, Dec 7 to Friday, Dec 22, 2023. Comments may be submitted through the website, during the in-person open house, or by email, mail, text, or phone. We encourage all those that are interested in the Study to participate and share their thoughts.

The open house will be conducted in English. Project materials will be available in English for both meeting formats (on-line and in-person). If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or have difficulty communicating in English, one will be provided to you. If you have a disability and need assistance, special arrangements can be made to accommodate most needs. If you need interpretation or translation services or you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to attend and participate in the in-person or virtual open house, please contact the Project Team at 512-400-6107 no later than 4 p.m. CT, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023. Please be aware that advance notice is required as some services and accommodations may require time to arrange.

Thank you for your participation in the first Open House for the SH 45 Gap Study. The purpose of the first Open House was to share information about the Study and provide the opportunity for community feedback on the potential project, the study area, transportation needs, and stakeholder concerns and priorities. 

A summary of the meeting with all comments received will be posted once it is available.
